Keeping it Sweet: Betty Ringer Ice Cream Coming to Sylvan | Thirty

There’s a new ice cream shop coming to West Dallas and we’ve got the scoop! Betty Ringer Ice Cream is expected to open its first location at Sylvan | Thirty this holiday season.

Located next to Iota on the east side of the development, Betty Ringer’s menu options will include a variety of frozen treats along with cookies, caramels and chocolates. With all its products carefully made from scratch — from the ice cream to the waffle cones — you’ll find this parlor to be anything but vanilla.

Although this will be Betty Ringer’s first store, owner Stephen Smith is no stranger to the sweet world of desserts. A graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris, Smith spent a couple of years working in various restaurants in France and Spain before moving back to America and discovering his love for creating chocolate masterpieces.

After founding Nib Chocolates, a wholesale chocolate business in the Dallas design district, Smith gained management experience and sold his products at Hey Sugar, a candy and ice cream shop in Roanoke. He then combined his knowledge of chocolate with his passion for ice cream, named the concept after two of his pets and thus, Betty Ringer was born.

“Betty Ringer joins numerous other retailers in selecting Sylvan | Thirty as the home of their business’ first location, which speaks to the quality of the close-knit community we are building,” said Brent Jackson, developer of Sylvan | Thirty and President of Oaxaca Interests. “We welcome Steve’s delicious new concept and look forward to witnessing Betty Ringer’s success.”

Smith will continue the production of Nib Chocolates, but his ice cream will remain exclusive to Betty Ringer. Ice cream flavors will include old favorites like dark chocolate, cookies and cream, Tahitian vanilla bean and roasted banana pudding. If you’re looking to stray from the ordinary, you may want to try the more adventurous flavors including olive oil and rosemary caramel, cinnamon horchata, Oaxacan spiced chocolate, blueberry buttermilk honey and tea flavors from Cultured Cup – the nationally renowned tea and coffee wholesaler. Be sure to also keep an eye out for the hot chocolate available during cold weather and the continuously rotating seasonal flavors of sorbets.
