SYNC Yoga & Wellbeing is honored to host Jessamyn Stanley, a self-professed “fat femme.” Jessamyn is a national body-positive activist who has garnered an immense following for her confrontational approach to tackling big topics—fat-shaming, body image and the media, and the tyranny of unattainable beauty standards.
Today, Jessamyn is an internationally celebrated yoga instructor and the author of the book Every Body Yoga: Let Go of Fear, Get on the Mat, Love Your Body. But when Jessamyn first tried yoga years ago, she felt alienated and lost – like she didn’t fit into society’s mold of “yoga practitioner.”
By starting a home practice and posting images of her progress on Instagram, Jessamyn found the diverse, vibrant community she craved. In her new book, Jessamyn shares her own deeply personal stories and offers an unprecedented beginner’s guide to yoga—specifically for anyone who has ever felt as though their body was too “different” to start a practice.
Join SYNC Yoga & Wellbeing on Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. as Jessamyn leads a provocative conversation about all of this at Sync. At the event, you can purchase a copy of Jessamyn’s new book “Every Body Yoga.” Jessamyn will also be available after her talk to sign books and meet participants.
**This event is free, but space is limited so advanced registration is required.** Check out Jessamyn’s Saturday yoga class offering at Sync too!
