Cooper’s Meat Market, a custom cut meat shop that has been a favorite in San Antonio for more than 20 years, has signed a lease to open its first Dallas location at Sylvan | Thirty.
Michael Johnson, the second generation in the family business, along with business partner Victoria Berezina will lead the expansion to bring an assortment of beef, poultry, fish and other meats to the neighborhood.
“I used to live in Kessler Park, and it’s been amazing to watch this community grow and thrive with unique businesses,” said Johnson. “It’s a great time to become a part of the Sylvan | Thirty family, and Cooper’s is looking forward to serving this area.”
Anticipating a fall opening, Cooper’s will occupy the 3,100-square foot space adjacent to Cox Farms Market. The two family businesses will complement one another and offer the best of both worlds — convenience and quality.
“After several fellow tenants met with Michael to learn about his family’s business and their history, it became clear that the butcher’s heritage would be a key ingredient to their success in our community. Sylvan | Thirty prides itself on attracting independent businesses run by families, artisans and entrepreneurs,” said Brent Jackson, owner and developer of Sylvan | Thirty.
While their specialty is high-quality meats, Cooper’s will carry a variety of appetizers, sides, casseroles, wine and beer, as well as popular YETI coolers and Game Guard gear. Architect Monty Gaither and interior designer Ike Isenhour will transform the space into a rustic yet contemporary market with an interactive experience where shoppers can work with a butcher to customize their cuts.
In addition to their in-store sales, Cooper’s will offer catering services up to 300 guests and deliver to customers in Uptown, Highland Park, University Park and Lakewood.
